heartlinegraphic.jpgIn case any of your weren’t aware, February is National Heart Month.

The U.S. Government decided that this was a good time to build awareness of the need to maintain our heart health.  And why not?  After all, Valentine’s Day is in February!

So, what can YOU do to celebrate and recognize National Heart Month?

Here’s a partial list of ideas….

  • Go and donate blood at the American Red Cross.  They ALWAYS need blood.
  • Walk 30 minutes each day
  • Go to the store and buy fruits and vegetables - your heart LOVES them.
  • Spend 5 minutes at the start of the day and end of the day to say/think what you’re grateful for.  You’ll feel better and so will your heart.
  • Take your vitamins each day.  Our bodies need extra nutrition to protect us from the ravages of stress, environmental pollutants, diet deficiencies, and inactivity.
  • Love your pet - animals naturally make us feel better.
  • Give up one bad habit, at least for the month.  So, whether it’s smoking, or drinking, or eating pizza - give it a rest.
  • Strive to only think positive thoughts about others.  When you find a negative thought creeping into your mind, replace it with a good one.

That should give you a start.  Remember, if something makes you feel good, it’s probably good for your heart.
